What is the absolute smallest and easiest camera bag that will actually fit my Sony ZV-E10 because everything I look at online is so confusing and I am honestly about to give up on this whole hobby before it even starts. Seriously I just bought this camera because everyone said it was good for beginners but now I realize I have no way to carry it around safely and I am so frustrated. I am going on a trip to Kyoto and Tokyo in three weeks and I really need something that is compact but actually protects the lens.
I have no idea where to start with all these terms like mirrorless vs dslr or sling vs holster and it is making my head spin. I bought one bag last week off Amazon that the description said was universal but when it arrived it was literally the size of a toaster oven and my little Sony was just rattling around inside it like a marble in a tin can. It was ridiculous. I just want something that fits like a glove you know? I am not planning on buying any more lenses right now because I dont even know how to use the one that came on it yet so it just needs to fit the camera with that kit lens thing attached.
My budget is pretty tight like maybe 50 dollars max because the camera itself was so expensive and I still need to buy comfortable walking shoes for Japan. I live in a small town so I cant go to a real camera store to try things out which makes it even harder.
Here is what I am looking for:
- Something very small that can maybe fit inside my regular backpack sometimes
- Needs to have its own strap though for when I am just walking around
- Not super ugly or bulky looking
- Some padding so I dont break it if I bump into a wall or something
- Space for just one extra battery and maybe my sd card wallet
Does anyone know a specific brand or model that is basically made for this size camera? I feel like a total idiot asking this but I am so lost and every time I search I just get more confused by all the options that look exactly the same but are different prices...

Just saw this thread and youre going to love Japan! Kyoto is seriously magical. Quick question—are you planning to wear this as a crossbody or just on one shoulder? It makes a huge difference when youre walking miles every day. Here are a couple quick tips to save your sanity:
- Get a bag with a removable strap so it works as a padded case inside your backpack.
- Look for neoprene if you want the absolute smallest size. I love the Tenba Skyline v2 7 Shoulder Bag Black because its tiny and looks great. It fits the ZV-E10 perfectly! I went through the exact same nightmare when I first got into mirrorless gear. I wasted so much money on bags that looked tiny in photos but showed up looking like luggage. Unfortunately, most compact bags are still designed for chunky old DSLRs, which is why your Sony felt like a marble in a tin can. I actually bought a generic small bag for my last trip and it was so bulky I ended up leaving it in the hotel room every day. Total waste of cash... You really want something like the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 5 Shoulder Bag. It is specifically for those tiny mirrorless bodies. It fits the ZV-E10 with that 16-50mm kit lens like a glove. It has a front pocket for your battery and SD cards too. It is small enough to toss in a backpack but the strap works for walking around the city. Honestly, most other cheap options feel like cardboard, but this one actually protects the gear.

Building on the earlier suggestion, are you just using the kit lens? Tbh I'm super satisfied with Lowepro Adventura SH 100 III or the Manfrotto Amica 10 Shoulder Bag for compact travel protection.
