Just saw rumors on SAR that the FX9 mark II will be announced in late 2024. Anyone got some specs about this camera ?

@Reply #2 - good point! honestly ive been obsessing over sensor readout speeds for years and the rolling shutter issue just kills me every time. i remember being out on a documentary shoot last year trying to track these fast-moving mountain bikers and the jello effect was so bad the footage was basically unusable. its so frustrating that were still waiting for global shutter to be the standard across the board. i spent a fortune on glass only to have the sensor let me down when things get fast. if youre worried about the budget tho just stick with any of the newer sony cinema gear. you really cant go wrong with that brand right now even if the wait for these mark ii specs is driving us all crazy. tbh im just tired of the tiny incremental updates when were paying these premium prices... it feels like were always just one rumored update away from what we actually need and it just never quite gets there.

> Anyone got some specs about this camera ? Been thinking about this for a few hours and honestly its so hard to stay calm when prices are just getting insane! Like, I love the idea of new gear but the way these companies keep hiking prices while the build quality feels like it's getting worse drives me crazy! It's such a scam. I'm always terrified my gear is just gonna fall apart because I'm still figuring things out, so I've been DIYing my own rigs and brackets just to feel like it's actually secure lol. But hey, before I get too worked up, what kind of work are you actually planning to do with it? Are you doing studio stuff or are you out in the wild? I'd love to know if I should actually be getting my hopes up or just stick to my homemade setups!

^ This. Also, in my experience, the reliability of these supposed professional workhorses has become such a joke lately. We pay ten grand for a body just to find out the thermal management is mediocre or the mount has too much play after six months of heavy field use. Honestly its ridiculous how weve just accepted that these companies can drip feed us basic features like global shutter while hiking prices every single cycle. I spend half my time looking at data sheets and the other half wondering why I am paying a premium to be a beta tester for their unfinished firmware. Drives me crazy that we used to buy a camera and it lasted five years, now youre lucky if it doesnt glitch out on a high stakes shoot after eighteen months. Its such a scam that they prioritize new model hype over the actual rugged dependability that professionals actually need on the ground. We are just chasing specs that dont even hold up under real pressure anymore...

OMG I am so pumped for this potential launch and the rumors are getting me really excited! If Sony brings that new AI processing from their mirrorless line over to the cinema side, it's gonna be an absolute beast. Word on the street is we might finally get 4K at 120p without a crop which would be amazing!

  • Sony FX9 Full-Frame Cinema Camera: The image quality is already fantastic and I love the dual base ISO, but it's starting to feel a little heavy for long days.
  • Canon EOS C300 Mark III: This is such a fantastic alternative with the DGO sensor for dynamic range, but I honestly find the Sony autofocus stays locked on way better.
  • Sony FX6 Full-Frame Cinema Camera: Its so lightweight and perfect for travel, tho I definitely miss the locking E-mount when I'm using heavier glass. I really think the FX9 II is gonna bridge the gap perfectly and give us everything we've been asking for. Sony usually hits it out of the park with these updates! If you're wondering about anything else from my time with these rigs just ask, I dont mind sharing what I know...

I was hoping Sony to release FX3 II first. 😥
