I finally saved up enough for the Sony ZV-E10 because everyone says its the best for starting out on YouTube but now Im actually trying to use it and oh my god my footage is so shaky. Like seriously it looks like I'm filming during an earthquake or something whenever I try to walk and talk at the same time and I didnt realize it would be this hard to keep it still. I tried looking at settings but I dont really understand what active stabilization even does and it crops the image so much that my face is just huge on the screen lol.
So I think I need a gimbal? But I am looking at them online and I am so confused because there are like a million different brands like DJI and Zhiyun and Hohem and they all have these weird names like Crane or Scorp and I have no idea if they even work with my camera. Im really scared of buying something that doesnt fit or is too complicated to balance because I watched a video on balancing and it looked like literal rocket science to me. Im super stressed because I have a trip to Japan coming up in three weeks and I really wanted to film some cool cinematic vlogs but right now everything looks like trash.
My budget is really tight like maybe 200 dollars max because I spent all my money on the camera body and the kit lens. Is there anything actually good for that price that wont break after a week? I just want something simple where I can just click it in and start filming without needing a degree in engineering. Sorry if this is a really dumb question I just feel way over my head with all this gear stuff. Does anyone know what the best budget gimbal for a total beginner with a ZV-E10 would be?
ngl i went through the exact same thing when i first got my zv-e10. the electronic stabilization on that camera is basically useless for walking because the crop factor just ruins your framing. i ended up picking up the Zhiyun Crane M2S 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal and it honestly changed everything for my travel vlogs. it fits your budget perfectly and its way smaller than those huge professional ones. the reason it helps so much is that it physically moves the camera to counter your footsteps, which the digital active mode just cant do without zooming in. balancing is kinda annoying the first time but once you get the hang of it, it takes like two minutes tops. just remember to balance it with the screen flipped out since thats how youll be filming. if youre going to japan, you really want something light anyway because your arms are gonna get tired after an hour of walking around tokyo...
To add to the point above: unfortunately the zv-e10 internal stabilization is a massive letdown for walking shots, basically unusable tbh. I've messed with the FeiyuTech SCORP-Mini 2 3-Axis Gimbal and it's solid for the price, tho the app is kinda buggy. It handles up to a 1.2kg payload which is plenty for your setup. Before you buy anything, are you just using the basic kit lens or did you get a heavier lens? Balancing gets way harder if the glass is front-heavy.
