Which external flash works best with the Sigma fp series?

Ive been shooting with the Sigma fp for like two years now mostly for video but recently I started trying to use it for some event photography and man the flash situation is a total nightmare. I've got the HU-11 bracket screwed on and everything but nothing seems to communicate right. My logic was that a standard Godox trigger for Sony or even the universal one would at least fire in manual mode but its so hit or miss and the sync speed is driving me crazy. Im hitting that 1/30 limit which I knew about but even then the timing feels off. Ive been doing studio work for a decade and never struggled this much with a simple strobe setup.

I have a gallery opening in Chicago next Thursday and I really need a reliable setup for some candid portraits but Im honestly stuck. I looked at the Sigma EF-630 but some reviews say its bulky and the firmware is a mess. Then theres the Leica SF 40 since they share the L-mount alliance but the price tag is insane for what it is. Is there any flash that actually talks to this thing properly without me having to pray every time I press the shutter? My budget is maybe 300-400 bucks tops but I just need something that doesnt fail me mid-shoot...

Sigma shares the Panasonic/Olympus pinout, so you need their specific gear. The Godox V860III-O Flash for Olympus/Panasonic should solve those communication lags. What specific Godox trigger model are you using right now?

In my experience, the communication lag happens because the fp expects specific L-mount TTL timing. Honestly, I've tried many combinations and found the Panasonic DMW-FL360L External Flash solves the sync issues better than universal units. Using native Panasonic-protocol gear ensures the pin alignment is perfect for those candid shots, which prevents those frustrating timing errors youre seeing.

> Im hitting that 1/30 limit which I knew about but even then the timing feels off. Last year I went through this exact same headache before a gallery gig. Every universal trigger I tried just felt laggy or missed half the shots. Eventually, I bit the bullet and grabbed the Sigma EF-630 Electronic Flash for Sigma and honestly, I have been super satisfied with it. The size is bulky, but it actually helps with the grip if you arent using a cage. Firmware issues were mostly fixed a while back, so it works well now without those weird sync delays. If you want to stay with Godox, you actually need the "O" version because the L-mount shares pins with Olympus/Panasonic. Using the Godox X2T-O TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Olympus/Panasonic with a Godox V1-O Flash for Olympus/Panasonic has been totally flawless for me. No complaints at all once I swapped to that setup... it just works.
