What cage and handle should I get for the Sigma fp L? i just bought the camera and im super excited but honestly i have no idea where to start with rigging it up or even what half these parts do lol. its so small in my hands so i definitely need something to grip onto.

i'm planning a trip to Japan in three weeks so i need to order something soon but my budget is only about 200 dollars for the extra bits. is smallrig the only brand to look at? i saw some other ones online but they look really complicated and i dont want to break anything. sorry if this is a dumb question i'm just a total beginner here...

Honestly, you cant go wrong with SmallRig Cage 2271 for Sigma fp. Its really simple. Ive been super satisfied with mine because its cheap and fits like a glove. If you want something a bit more premium, the Tilta TA-T03-FCC-G Full Cage for fp series is solid too. SmallRig is way easier for a beginner tho and leaves you enough cash for a SmallRig 1638 Top Handle with Cold Shoe.

> Regarding what #2 said about "In my experience, I once used a flimsy..." Id be really careful with cheap unbranded parts because they can definitely slip and scratch the body. For your Japan trip, i would suggest the SmallRig Cage for Sigma fp Series 3211 and a SmallRig Wooden Side Handle 2093C. This setup stays well under your 200 dollar budget. Just make sure to tighten the screws every couple days... you dont want your new camera rattling loose while youre exploring Tokyo!

In my experience, I once used a flimsy grip that scratched my cameras finish. I learned my current setup needs:

  • internal rubber lining
  • anti-twist pins Reliability is definitely my top priority.
