Which gimbal stabilizer works best with the Panasonic GH5 model?

Ive been rocking the GH5 for years now and honestly I still love the image but my old Ronin-S is just killing my back lately and the motors are starting to give out on me whenever I swap lenses. I usually run the Sigma 18-35 with the Speedbooster which everyone knows is a total brick of a setup for a micro four thirds camera. Its so front heavy that my current gimbal just vibrates like crazy even after a fresh auto-tune.

Ive got a three-day documentary project starting in a few weeks up in Seattle and I really need something more reliable and hopefully a bit lighter if thats even possible with this lens combo. I was looking at the DJI RS3 Pro but Im not sure if the standard RS3 can handle the torque needed for that heavy glass or if Im just gonna run into the same balance issues. Budget is around 500 or 600 bucks tops because I already spent way too much on lighting this year.

Does anyone still use the GH5 on a modern gimbal and actually get the cable controls to work right? Ive had so much trouble with the start/stop trigger on older models and I just want something that works out of the box without me having to buy a dozen different proprietary cables...

I ran that exact setup for a doc last year and the DJI RS 3 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer is the move. The 3kg payload and motor torque handles the center of gravity on that heavy Sigma glass way better than the S. USB-C control worked for my GH5 right out of the box. At 550 bucks, it fits the budget and wont kill your back.

Quick question tho, are you running a cage on that GH5? It changes the clearance for the cables quite a bit. Over the years I've found that the Zhiyun Crane 2S 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer is a beast for front-heavy glass. Its got way more torque than the smaller gimbals in your price range. TL;DR: The Crane 2S is cheaper and handles that Sigma brick with zero vibration.

Works great for me

Regarding what #4 said about "Big if true" - it really is wild how much the motor tech has improved since the Ronin-S days! If you need something lighter with high torque for that Sigma 18-35 brick, I would definitely look at the FeiyuTech SCORP-C 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer. I love the built-in underslung handle for doc work because it shifts the weight off your wrists and onto your arm. It handles a 2.5kg payload easily which is fantastic for a GH5 setup. Its only about 1.2kg itself, so way lighter than your current rig. Another awesome choice is the Moza AirCross 3 Professional Kit 3-Axis Gimbal. The motor strength on that thing is amazing for front-heavy lenses and the battery life is just insane for 3-day shoots. Both these brands have finally fixed their Panasonic cable control issues over USB-C so start/stop should work right out of the box without any extra adapters!
