so i am losing my mind trying to pick a monitor for my gh6 before this wedding shoot in portland next weekend. i keep seeing the ninja v suggested everywhere but then i read about major overheating issues when you're pushing 4k 60 plus the fan noise might ruin my scratch audio. then some folks swear by the video assist but im not sure if the ssd recording is worth the extra weight on my small cage setup. i need to decide fast.
is the portkeys lh5p ii actually good or just hype? i really need to order something today...
Re: > has to be daylight viewable Unfortunately, i... Totally agree. Ive tried many, and honestly the Atomos Shinobi 5.2-inch 1000nit HDMI Monitor is way more color accurate for V-Log than those budget high-bright panels.
You should definitely grab the Portkeys LH5P II 5.5 Inch 2200nit Touchscreen Monitor right now! It is an amazing piece of gear that solves all those Ninja V headaches. I use it on my GH6 all the time and love it for several reasons:

> has to be daylight viewable Unfortunately, i have had issues with budget high-bright monitors before. Most claim massive nit counts but the calibration is often disappointing, making v-log look muddy. To add to the point above: be extremely careful with power draw. I found some of these panels pull so much current they actually cause signal interference with the gh6 hdmi port. Its a massive headache when the signal drops mid-take...

If you are worried about V-Log colors being wonky on budget screens, you should really look into the SmallHD Action 5 5.5 Inch 2000nit Monitor. It is super light and the software is way better than the cheaper brands, which helps a ton when you are rushing through a wedding day. To add to the point above: the build quality on SmallHD is usually a step up, so it wont feel like a toy on your GH6. If you want to save some cash though, the Osee T5+ 5.5 Inch 1000nits Camera Field Monitor is a sleeper hit. It is only 1000 nits so maybe not as bright as some others, but the image is very clean and accurate for the price point. Both fit your budget and wont weigh down a small cage setup. Handheld work is all about weight distribution anyway... good luck with the Portland shoot!
