finally grabbed the s5 ii for my wedding gigs here in seattle and im so hyped but the preamps feel way more sensitive than my gh5 was. my current shotgun is picking up weird hiss. need a solid mic under 300 bucks before my next shoot this saturday... any go-to picks for this body?

TLDR: Lower your camera gain to -18dB and use the Rode VideoMic NTG On-camera Shotgun Mic. Honestly, I disagree that the S5 II preamps are the issue here. I had the same hiss during a church ceremony last month until I realized the camera gain was too high. The NTG lets you use its internal amp instead, which is way more reliable for weddings.

Years ago my first wedding audio was a mess until the Rode Wireless GO II Dual Channel Compact Wireless Microphone System saved me! It's cheap, amazing, and totally hiss-free!
