Which high-quality tripod works best for heavy Nikon DSLR cameras?

I need a tripod that wont buckle under my Nikon D850 and that heavy 70-200mm lens, what are you guys using for big rigs? Im finally upgrading for a trip to the Tetons next month and Im so stoked but also kinda terrified of my setup tipping over in the wind.

Currently torn between the Gitzo Mountaineer Series 2 and the Really Right Stuff TVC-24L. The RRS seems like the gold standard. But man it is pricey and I still need to get a decent ball head too. My budget is $1100 max for everything. Is the Gitzo stable enough for long exposures with heavy glass or should I just bite the bullet on the RRS?

You can totally get amazing performance without dropping a grand on just legs! For that heavy Nikon rig, I recommend these choices:

Leofoto LS-324C Ranger Series Carbon Fiber Tripod is incredibly stiff and stable for its 32mm leg diameter.

I spent way too much time debating those two exact setups before my last big mountain trek. Honestly, the wind in the Tetons is no joke and you really gotta be careful about center of gravity. I learned the hard way that a fancy name wont save a top-heavy rig if the ball head isnt beefy enough.

Gitzo GT2542 Mountaineer Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod is light for hiking, but the Series 2 might feel a bit slim for a D850 with that glass in high winds. It is stable, but I felt like I was pushing its limits.

Benro Mach3 TMA38CL Long Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is what I use now. It is a tank and handles the 70-200mm easily. Way cheaper than RRS too.

Sirui K-40X 54mm Ball Head has huge locking power. I would suggest a massive ball diameter like this to prevent lens creep. Just make sure to hang your camera bag from the hook if it gets gusty... nothing worse than seeing your gear face-plant in the dirt.
