Honestly Im so fed up with these cheap Amazon cases that claim to be premium leather but honestly feel like plastic cardboard and smell like weird chemicals. I just got my M11 and Im so incredibly excited to finally start shooting with it but the current half-case I bought is driving me absolutely insane. The bottom flap doesnt even line up with the battery door correctly so I have to tear the whole thing off every single time I need to swap cards or charge which is just a total nightmare when Im out in the middle of a street session.

I live in San Francisco and spend all day walking around doing street photography so I really need something that actually protects the baseplate from scratches without being a massive pain in the neck to use. I want something that actually feels like real high-quality leather and will develop a nice patina over the next few years. I looked at those Arte di Mano cases because they look gorgeous but the lead time is like several months and I really dont want to wait that long. My budget is somewhere around $200 to $300 if the quality is actually there.

Are there any other brands that fit like a glove and have that nice tactile feel without blocking the battery or being overly bulky? What are the best leather half-cases for Leica M cameras right now?

In my years shooting street, Oberwerth Half Case for Leica M11 saved my sanity with that battery cutout. Its way better leather than the Vi Vante Leica M11 Half Case I tried previously.

In my experience, the Lim's Design Leica M11 Half Case Italian Leather is the sleeper hit for technical fit. It features a milled aluminum baseplate so the battery door alignment stays perfect forever. Its way less bulky than other options and the Pueblo leather takes a beating. Usually runs about $160, so you save some cash for glass.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I have been super satisfied with the Angelo Pelle Half Case for Leica M11. The technical tolerances are great because they use a reinforced internal frame so the leather dont warp. It has a really solid magnetic battery door that works well for those fast card swaps. Honestly, the vegetable-tanned leather smells like actual quality. Definitely worth the $260 investment.
