So I finally pulled the trigger on an M11 last month after shooting with my trusty M10 for years and man the ergonomics are just slightly off for my hands without a grip or something. Ive always used those cheap-ish eBay cases but they feel like cardboard now that Im actually looking for something decent. I tried one of the official Leica protectors but its so stiff and honestly the leather feels like plastic to me for the price they charge. Its super frustrating because Ive spent all this money on the body and now I cant find a case that actually lets me get to the battery or SD card slot without taking the whole damn thing off every single time. Im traveling to Tokyo in three weeks and I really want something broken in and comfortable by then but every site I look at has like a 2 month lead time or shipping from half way across the world with zero returns.

I need something that has a proper cutout for the battery door because the M11 design is great until you put a case on it. I also need something that wont scratch the bottom plate or mess with the lugs. I saw some stuff from Arte di Mano which looks incredible but honestly 500 dollars for a piece of leather is pushing it even for me and my wife might actually kill me if I spend more this month lol. I looked at Luigi Crescenzi too but the website is a total nightmare to navigate and I cant tell what actually fits the newer digital bodies vs the old film ones. Does anyone have experience with the newer Mr. Zhou or maybe those Oberwerth ones? I heard Oberwerth is good but some say theyre bulky and I want to keep the profile slim for street shooting.

The main thing is I need it to feel like actual leather, you know? That soft, grippy feel that gets better as it wears down. Im sick of these genuine leather scams that are just coated junk. My budget is probably around 200 to 250 tops. What are the best leather half cases for Leica M cameras that actually balance functionality with that classic look without costing as much as a lens?

Coming back to this... in my experience, spending $500 on leather is just risky if you actually use your gear. Are you planning on using a thumb grip or just the case? Ive tried many over the years and was so nervous about scratching my M11. The Kaza Deluxe Leather Half Case for Leica M11 really surprised me tho. It protects the base plate perfectly and the leather feels authentic. Great battery access for under $200.

Ngl, I had the same issue with the M11 door. Ive been shooting M bodies for years and finally landed on the Oberwerth Half Case for Leica M11 with Battery Access. Im honestly super satisfied.

  • Real leather feel that gets grippy
  • Proper cutout for the battery
  • Slim profile It hits that $250 sweet spot and breaks in really nicely... way better than those stiff official ones.
