What are the fastest SD cards I can buy for a Leica SL2 because honestly I am so lost right now and my camera keeps freezing up. I finally saved up enough to get this thing for my sisters wedding next month in New Jersey but every time I try to take more than two pictures in a row it just sits there with a little blinking light and I cant do anything.

I went to the store and they showed me all these cards with numbers like V30 and V60 and V90 and I have literally no idea what any of that means like is a bigger number always better? I already spent way too much on the actual camera body so I dont want to waste hundreds of dollars on the wrong cards if I dont have to. The guy at the shop was trying to sell me these cards that were like 200 bucks each which seems insane for a little piece of plastic but maybe that is just what it costs?

Im really worried I am gonna miss the cake cutting or the first dance because the camera is too busy thinking. I just want it to be fast and not laggy. Do I need the most expensive ones or is there a cheaper way to get it to work right? Sorry if this is a dumb question I just have no idea where to start and everything is so confusing and the manual is like a textbook...

Building on the earlier suggestion, I found my SL2 stalled constantly during events until I upgraded. Be careful with budget cards...

Honestly I'm so satisfied with Kingston Canvas React Plus 128GB UHS-II V90 cards. They're a total budget lifesaver and handle the SL2 files like a champ without any complaints... works great.

Unfortunately, the SL2 is notoriously picky and I have had issues with mid-tier UHS-II cards causing write-speed bottlenecks. Most V60 cards were just not as good as expected for clearing the buffer with those 47MP files. You definitely need V90 rated cards. Grab a Sony SF-G Tough Series UHS-II V90 64GB or the SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II V90 128GB. Theyre pricey, but they solve the lag.

Honestly, I have had issues with so many cards over the years that it is just exhausting. I remember shooting a high-end gala with my SL2 and the thing just locked up on a mid-tier card... literally the worst feeling in the world when you have a client staring at you. Unfortunately, many cards marketed as high speed are just not as good as expected when you are pushing those massive 47MP files through the buffer. Quick tip tho: never skip formatting the card in-camera before a big event like a wedding. Dont just delete the files on your computer and think its fine. Before I suggest anything else, are you planning to shoot DNG only or are you doing DNG+JPEG to both slots? That really changes how the camera handles the data flow. Tbh I have had the best luck with Delkin Devices BLACK SDXC UHS-II V90 128GB because they are built like tanks and I have never had one fail yet. I also used Angelbird AV PRO SD MK2 V90 256GB for a while but I found them a bit finicky in certain weather. Just stay away from the cheap stuff if you want it to actually work when the cake gets cut...
