i just got a used m10 and keep seeing these thumb grips and screw-on buttons but i have no idea if they are actually needed. i only have $40 left this month so i dont want to waste it. are these just for looks or do they help? im scared i might break the shutter button if i screw something in...
In my experience, a thumb grip is a total game changer for M10 ergonomics. Ive tried plenty over the years and the Haoge THB-M10B Thumb Up Grip for Leica M10 is solid for the price. Skip the soft release buttons, theyre mostly for looks and can actually strain the shutter mechanism if they snag... focus on the grip, it makes handling way safer, tbh.
The M10 is an amazing piece of engineering! For safety, I always recommend high-quality components to protect those delicate internal threads. A premium soft release can actually improve your shot stability by allowing a smoother squeeze without jarring the camera!
i've spent way too much on these bits over the years just to have them sit in a drawer. what glass are you mainly using on that m10? if you're shooting big fast 50s you might need the extra leverage but with a small 35 it's often overkill. are you actually feeling a lack of control when you're out shooting or are you just worried about the aesthetic?
Subbing for updates
My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.
No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.
Finally someone says it. Ive been thinking this for a while but wasnt sure.
