Does anyone know which specific external monitors actually play nice with the Fujifilm X-H2S and dont drop the signal every five minutes?? Im getting really frustrated here because Ive been shooting professionally for over 8 years and I usually have my gear dialed in but this camera is being a total pain with my old Feelworld and even a borrowed Shinobi.
I just picked up the X-H2S a few months ago for the stacked sensor speed and the internal ProRes is amazing but the rear screen is just too tiny for checking critical focus when Im shooting wide open at f/1.2 or f/1.4. I have a huge wedding project coming up in Seattle in less than two weeks and I need a reliable monitor setup that can handle the 4k 60p 10-bit feed without lagging or getting that weird flickering I keep seeing. I tried using my old 5 inch monitor but the colors are totally shifted in F-Log2 and it keeps losing the handshake with the HDMI connection. The signal just cuts to black and I have to toggle the camera off and on to get it back which is a nightmare when youre trying to capture a processional.
My budget is around $700 or $800 max because I already spent a fortune on the CFexpress Type B cards for this thing lol. I was looking at the Ninja V+ since it can do the Raw output but honestly I just need something bright enough for outdoor use that wont die on me mid-ceremony. Is the Portkeys LH5P II any good with the camera control features? Or should I just stick to the Atomos ecosystem even though their software can be buggy? I really need to get this ordered like tonight so it gets here in time for prep. If anyone has a setup that works perfectly with the X-H2S please let me know which cable and monitor combo youre using because Im losing my mind over the signal drops...
I was pulling my hair out with the same exact issue... tried three different monitors and kept getting that annoying black screen right when things got busy. I eventually settled on the Portkeys LH5P II 5.5 inch 2200nit Camera Control Monitor and I have been super happy with it. It handled a full day of shooting 4k 60p without a single hiccup which was a huge relief after the mess I had before. Heres what made the difference for my setup:
Late to the party but I have been very satisfied with my current setup. Like someone mentioned, the cable is often the weak link for signal drops.
