What ND filters are actually the best for the DJI Air 3? I literally just got this drone and its my first one ever so I am super confused by all the different numbers and brands out there. I have a trip to the Grand Canyon this weekend so I need to get something on Amazon like today but I dont even know what ND8 or ND64 means.

Is Freewell good or should I just get the DJI ones? I dont want to spend more than 60 or 70 dollars because I already spent so much on the drone itself. Everything just looks way too bright and blown out in my videos and I heard these are like sunglasses for the camera but I am so scared of messing up the lens by clipping something on it...

To add to the point above:

  • Consider the K&F Concept DJI Air 3 ND Filter 4-Pack for high optical density precision.
  • Be careful during installation; dont force clips or youll risk misaligning the sensitive gimbal axis.

Honestly, just go with Freewell. Over the years, I have tried many brands from the overpriced ones to the cheap knockoffs, and Freewell is usually the sweet spot for price and quality. Since you're heading to the Grand Canyon, you are gonna deal with some intense, harsh desert light. You definitely need those sunglasses for your drone so your footage doesnt look like a washed-out mess. The numbers basically tell you how much light they block. Here is the direct breakdown for what you will actually use:

  • ND8 or ND16: Best for sunrise, sunset, or cloudy days.
  • ND32: Your go-to for standard bright sunny days.
  • ND64: What you want for that middle-of-the-day desert sun when everything is white-hot. I would grab the Freewell Standard Day 4-Pack ND8 ND16 ND32 ND64 for DJI Air 3. It fits right in your budget and covers almost every scenario you will hit this weekend. If you want a few more options for even cheaper, look at the K&F Concept ND Filter Set 6-Pack for DJI Air 3. Dont stress about the lens. They are made to pop on and off. Just use a tiny bit of pressure and twist... you will feel it click into place. If it feels like you are forcing it too hard, just stop and realign. In my experience, the Air 3 mounting system is way more robust than the older drones. You will be fine, just take your time and enjoy the trip.

Did this last week, worked perfectly

I once snapped a gimbal forcing a heavy filter. Third party glass often matches the weight specs best.

  • ND16: 4 stops
  • ND64: 6 stops Never force the clip or the motor might fail.
