I just got my Air 3 and i am terrified of the soft bag it came with honestly. I have a trip to Iceland coming up in three weeks and i need something that can handle being tossed around in a rental car or maybe even checked if i run out of carry on space. I have been looking at a few specific cases but i cant decide which way to go.
Right now I am torn between:
Budget is like 150 max but id rather spend less if the quality is there. I need it to fit the drone, the RC 2 controller, and at least 3 batteries plus the charging hub. Space is a bit of an issue in my luggage though so i dont want a massive coffin style case if i can avoid it. I really need to make a move on this by Friday so it gets here in time for the flight.
Is the GPC really worth the extra money over something like the Nanuk? Or should i just save the cash and get the Lycus? I am leaning toward the Nanuk because of those PowerClaw latches but im not sure if the cutout for the Air 3 is as snug as the GPC one...
I had a cheap case before and unfortunately the foam started crumbling after just one trip. Not as good as expected... it actually got bits inside my motors. If youre going to Iceland, go for the GPC DJI Air 3 Hard Case. The closed-cell foam is much safer than the cheap stuff. Check the MavicPilots forum to see how generic foam fails over time... its honestly not worth the risk.
Like someone mentioned, that bright color is a total game changer when you are scrambling around a rental car at 4 AM! Ive been using the Nanuk 925 DJI Air 3 Case for my last few trips and honestly those latches are amazing. They are so much easier on the fingers than the old school Pelican style ones. The foam is super high-density too so it wont crumble or absorb water if things get messy in Iceland. Quick tip for you... make sure the case has an automatic pressure valve. If you dont have one the pressure change on the flight will basically vacuum seal your case shut and it is a nightmare to pry open! I actually think the GPC DJI Air 3 Hard Case has a slightly more snug foam layout but Nanuk wins on the hardware. Avoid the budget Amazon foam if you can afford better because it gets gross and dusty after a while. If you want something a bit slimmer but still pro grade check out the HPRC2400 for DJI Air 3 as a solid alternative!
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
Been thinking about your Iceland trip and honestly, I've tried many of these over the years. For that kind of climate, you really need to prioritize the seals and foam density over just saving a few bucks. In my experience, the Nanuk 925 Case for DJI Air 3 is the sweet spot for travel. Those PowerClaw latches are legit when your hands are cold or wet... they dont snap back and bite your fingers like the old school ones. I used a GPC DJI Air 3 Hard Case for a year and while the water-jet cut foam is the best in the business, it can be almost too tight when youre trying to pack up quickly in the wind. If space is a major concern, check out the HPRC 2400 for DJI Air 3 as well. Its a bit more streamlined than the Nanuk but still tough enough to be checked if the airline gets picky. I'd skip the Lykus if you think there is even a 10 percent chance of checking the bag. The plastic just doesnt have the same flex-recovery as the higher end stuff and the foam can be hit or miss. TL;DR: Get the Nanuk in orange. The latches are a lifesaver in the cold and it fits your gear perfectly without the GPC price premium.
Any updates on this?

I grabbed a bright orange case for my current setup and was super satisfied with how it held up.
