Look I am honestly just so fed up with the soft bag that came with the Mavic 3 fly more combo. Its such a pain to pack and I feel like I'm playing tetris every time I try to put the drone away without bending the propellers or scratching the lens. I'm leaving for a big trip to the PNW in exactly ten days and I cannot deal with this flimsy thing anymore. I need a real case that actually protects the gear because the stock one is basically just a padded lunchbox honestly it feels like one drop and everything is gonna shatter and I've already spent way too much on this setup to have it break in my trunk.
I need something that fits:
Budget is like 180 bucks max and I need it to be rugged enough for some light hiking but still fit inside my main travel backpack. Is GPC the way to go or should I look at those Nanuk ones? I keep seeing ads for random brands on Amazon but I don't want to buy cheap junk that breaks in a month. If anyone has a setup they actually trust for travel please let me know soon because I need to order it like... yesterday so it gets here before my flight. Im just worried about the gimbal mostly.
I spent a ton of money on a GPC case thinking it was the holy grail, but unfortunately it was a total brick and wouldnt fit in my Osprey bag at all. Total waste of money. It was super frustrating trying to hike with it because it just felt too bulky and heavy for what it actually held. Since you are heading to the PNW, you definitely need something waterproof but streamlined enough for a pack. If you want something that actually fits in a travel backpack without sacrificing the gimbal protection, these are my picks:
Honestly, I feel your pain with that stock bag... it really is just a glorified lunchbox. I went through three cases before finding one that didnt feel like a toy. Unfortunately, my first 'rugged' pick was a total letdown because the latches felt like they'd snap any second. That generic case was not as good as expected at all. Most people swear by the Nanuk 915 Case for DJI Mavic 3 with RC Pro and it has been way better for my gimbal's safety. It fits the drone and three batteries easily. If you really want that precision foam, the GPC DJI Mavic 3 Series Hard Case is solid too, though it's a bit heavier for hiking. Issues with bulkiness are common with these hard cases, so just measure your backpack main compartment first. You're gonna love the PNW shots tho, dont let a bad bag ruin the vibe!
