Ugh I am so sick of these cheap cases lying about being hard shell. Just broke a prop on my Mavic 3 because my current bag basically folded under my hiking boots in the trunk. I have a trip to the Cascades next Friday and need something that wont fail.
I am stuck between these two right now:
The Pelican is pricey at like 200 bucks but everyone says they last forever while the GPC foam looks a lot tighter for the drone itself. I have about 250 to spend and need it to survive being tossed around a rugged suv and maybe some light rain. Is the Pelican worth the extra cash for durability or is the GPC better for actual protection?
Actually, I'm super satisfied with the Nanuk 915 Waterproof Case over Pelican because the latches are easier. The Lykus Titan MA310 Hard Case is a cheaper tank, but Nanuk feels way more reliable.
Saw this earlier but just now responding. You might want to consider the HPRC 2400 Hard Case for Mavic 3 instead. Be careful with the Pelican Air line because it uses a thinner resin to cut weight, which isnt ideal for heavy boots in a trunk. The GPC is decent, but I would suggest the SKB iSeries 3i-1309-6-M3 Case for DJI Mavic 3 for better crush protection. It is roughly 160 bucks and basically bulletproof.
Oh man I totally feel your pain! I used to be so reckless with my gear until I saw a friends drone get crushed by a heavy cooler in his Jeep. Since then I have become a total freak about rugged cases because gear is just too expensive to risk! Last summer I took my Mavic 3 out to the Olympics and I was using the Pelican 1485 Air Case with Foam and honestly it was a total lifesaver. I accidentally backed my truck over the edge of the case while unloading—I know, super embarrassing—but the drone inside didnt even have a scratch! It is literally indestructible and so light compared to the old versions! The Pelican is the gold standard for a reason but honestly for a Mavic 3 I think the GPC DJI Mavic 3 Hard Case with Custom Foam is actually the winner for you. While Pelican shells are legendary the GPC foam is water-jet cut so it fits every prop and sensor perfectly. I love how secure it feels! It uses an SKB shell which is totally waterproof and has these fantastic trigger-release latches that wont pop open if it takes a tumble down a hill. I have used mine in heavy rain and it kept everything bone dry. For a trip to the Cascades where its always damp and rocky you really need that level of overkill protection. The GPC is a total beast and you wont regret the peace of mind!
