Which case should I actually get for the Osmo Pocket 3 because the one in the creator combo is kinda flimsy? Im looking at these two right now:
I need something that protects the gimbal better when its shoved in my carry-on since I'm headed to Iceland next month for a hiking trip. Im basically torn because the STARTRC looks tougher but the Sunnylife seems way more compact for fitting in a jacket pocket. Budget is like thirty bucks max. Do you guys think the hard shell is worth the extra bulk or should I just stick with something slim?
Regarding what #1 said about "Tbh I had issues with those slim bags..." - they are spot on. Honestly, those ultra-slim cases are not as good as expected when you are actually cramming gear into a hiking pack. I've had issues with gimbal calibration errors after a slim case let the head bounce around too much. It is super frustrating and unfortunately happens way too often with those soft-shell designs.
Tbh I had issues with those slim bags before and they are honestly not as good as expected for real travel. Most soft pouches unfortunately offer zero crush protection... I actually ended up with a scuff on my lens once which totally ruined the vibe. Since you are going to Iceland to hike, you really gotta prioritize the gimbal safety over pocket space. The Sunnylife one is just way too flimsy for a carry-on where stuff gets squished by heavy suitcases. I would 100 percent grab the STARTRC Hard Carrying Case for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Waterproof Shell. It is only about 22 bucks and basically a tank. It is a bit bigger but way better than having a broken camera in the middle of a glacier trek. Dont risk it just to save an inch in your jacket tho... you wont regret the extra peace of mind.
Came here to say the same thing lol. Great minds think alike I guess.
Building on the earlier suggestion, hardshell is absolutely the move for a place like Iceland! I seriously love how much peace of mind a solid case gives you when you're throwing gear into a stuffed hiking pack. Last year meant trying to go lightweight with a tiny soft sleeve on a trek and it was a total disaster! Basically, my bag got squashed during a bus ride and the whole trip was spent worrying if the gimbal motors were fried... never again. Lessons learned:
Just catching up on this thread. Honestly, Iceland is gonna be brutal on gear with all that wind and mist... you might want to consider something that seals up tight. I would suggest looking at the K&F Concept DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Carrying Case because it is pretty solid for the price and keeps the dust out. Just be careful about how you pack it. Always slide the gimbal into the plastic protective cover it came with BEFORE putting it in the case, or the head will just rattle around and kill the motors. If you want something super cheap that still feels tough, the CYNOVA DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Carrying Case is basically under 20 bucks and does a decent job. Just dont trust those tiny soft bags in a stuffed hiking pack, they're a recipe for a broken screen or a snapped gimbal head.
