So I just got a Mavic 3 Classic for a big trip to Iceland next month and those official DJI batteries are basically highway robbery at this point. I was looking at some cheaper off-brand ones on Amazon like Hanatora or whatever and the reviews are confusing me. Half the people say they work fine for a few months but then I read a post saying DJI updates their firmware to brick third party stuff mid-flight which sounds terrifying. My budget is kinda tight now but I dont want to risk my drone falling into a glacier lol. Has anyone actually used these for a long time without issues or should I just bite the bullet on the real ones?
Iceland is gonna be absolutely epic, you are gonna have the best time!! Building on the earlier suggestion, I definitely wouldnt risk it because:
To add to the point above: unfortunately, my Hanatora Mavic 3 Battery Replacement was disappointing.
Just use the DJI Mavic 3 Battery Charging Hub and official cells instead.
Iceland is gonna be absolutely incredible! You're gonna love the footage you get there!! But honestly, dont risk it with the off-brand stuff. I've been flying DJI gear for ages and while the price of the DJI Mavic 3 Intelligent Flight Battery 5000mAh is painful, there is a massive reason for it. These things aren't just generic cells; they have a complex battery management system that talks to the drone's flight controller constantly. DJI updates the firmware all the time and if that digital handshake fails mid-air, you are looking at a very expensive paperweight at the bottom of a waterfall... scary stuff. Especially in the cold!! Iceland's temps will make your voltage drop faster anyway, and tbh third-party cells like the Hanatora 5000mAh Replacement Battery for Mavic 3 usually cant handle the discharge rate as reliably as the originals under stress. Stick with the real deal and have an amazing trip!!
