Been looking at the Manfrotto 055 since everyone says it is the gold standard but then I saw some reviews saying the fluid head on the video version is actually kinda jerky for panning? Also looked at the Benro S-series kits but people are saying the legs are a bit thin if you have a heavy lens on your R6. I'm shooting my cousins wedding in like two weeks and really need something that wont shake when I zoom in. My budget is capped at 300 dollars because I already spent too much on glass lol.

  • need something for smooth pans
  • stable enough for 70-200mm lens
  • easy to carry around the venue

I just want something that wont ruin the shots...

Just saw this and man, i feel your pain on the budget after buying glass. Over the years, ive tried many of those photo-first tripods and they always fail when you rack the zoom to 200mm. I actually ruined a wedding reel once because my pan head had a tiny hitch at the start of every movement. In my experience, you should check out the SmallRig AD-01 Heavy-Duty Fluid Head Tripod 3751. This thing is a tank for the price.

  • Twin-leg design stops the camera from twisting during pans.
  • 75mm leveling bowl saves so much time compared to adjusting individual legs.
  • Surprisingly smooth fluid drag for a budget head. The extra weight is worth it for the stability. Your 70-200 needs that mass to stay still when people are dancing nearby and shaking the floorboards...

^ This. Also, unfortunately most cheap heads suck for smooth panning.

I've been using the Benro S6Pro Fluid Head with A2573FS6 Aluminum Tripod Kit for a while and honestly, I'm super satisfied with the performance. You're right to worry about those thin legs... at 200mm, every tiny vibration looks like an earthquake. This specific kit has a much better payload capacity than the smaller S-series stuff you were seeing. The fluid head has actual steps of counterbalance which is huge for a heavy lens setup. I've had no complaints with jerky pans during church ceremonies, ngl. Quick tip tho: always balance your rig on the sliding plate until it sits level without you holding it. If it's front-heavy from that 70-200, the drag wont feel consistent and you'll get those annoying stutters. Once it is balanced, it works well every time and keeps everything stable.
