I recently purchased the Canon EOS R5 C and am looking for lens recommendations to pair with this camera body. I shoot a variety of subjects including portraits, landscapes, and some video work.

I'm considering the RF 24-70mm f/2.8 or RF 50mm f/1.2 to start, but open to other suggestions. What are your thoughts on the best all-around lens or top 2-3 lenses to get the most out of the R5 C's capabilities? I'd love to hear from other R5 C owners on your experience with RF mount lenses. Thanks!

The question focuses on asking for lens recommendations specifically for the Canon EOS R5 C mirrorless camera. It provides some context on the types of photography the user does and a couple lenses they are already considering. The question is posed to invite responses and first-hand experience from other Canon R5 C owners on the RF lenses they have found to be the best pairings with this camera body. The 100-word length keeps the post concise while still providing the key details needed.

^ This. Also, I've been shooting Canon for decades and the R5 C is a bit of a special case. In my experience, if you want pure reliability for both stills and video, you really cant beat the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. I know, f/4 sounds boring compared to the f/1.2 primes, but the autofocus is instant and it covers almost everything for landscapes. If you're dead set on portraits though, the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM is the one. I've tried many lenses over the years and nothing else produces that specific look. Its expensive and heavy but it just works every single time. One tip tho... make sure you have an external power source for the R5 C if you're running these big L-series lenses in video mode, otherwise your battery life is gonna be a joke.

Any RF mount L series lenses are Ok. depends on what you want to shooting with.

I highly recommend the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM. It's an incredibly versatile lens that covers a wide range of focal lengths, perfect for both photography and videography. The image stabilization is fantastic for handheld shots, and the constant f/2.8 aperture gives you great low-light performance and beautiful bokeh.
