I'm torn between the 28-75mm G2 and the 28-200mm superzoom. Usually Im an f2.8 guy but having that reach without swapping lenses sounds great. My budget is around $1000 so I could maybe swing a small prime too. Is the image quality on the 28-200 actually good enough for that 33MP sensor or am I gonna regret not having the constant aperture for night street shots?

okay so I finally bit the bullet and got the a7IV because my friend said it was the best for my trip to Italy next month but now I realize it didnt come with a lens and im honestly just so lost looking at all the options. i spent way more than i should have on just the camera part and my bank account is screaming at me but i need something to actually take photos with right?? my cousin told me to look at Tamron because they are cheaper than the Sony ones but there are like a million of them and I have no idea what the numbers even mean.

im getting really frustrated because every time i google something i get more confused like what is a 28-75 vs a 28-200 and why does one cost way more if the numbers are smaller?? i just want to take nice pictures of the buildings in Rome and maybe some food shots without having to carry a giant suitcase of gear around all day. im really worried im gonna buy the wrong thing and waste my money and then have blurry photos of the coliseum. it feels like i need a degree just to buy a piece of glass.

here is what im dealing with:

i can only spend like 800 maybe 900 dollars max because i still have to pay for hotels and stuff

we leave in three weeks so i need to order it like yesterday so i can practice

i want one lens that does everything because i dont know how to change them fast and i dont want to get dust inside the camera

it needs to be light enough to carry for 10 miles a day because we are walking everywhere

sorry if this is a stupid question but i literally dont know where to start and the more youtube videos i watch the more i feel like i should have just stayed with my iphone lol. does anyone have a suggestion for which tamron one is the easiest for a total beginner who just wants pretty travel photos? i keep seeing the 28-200 mentioned but then people say the 28-75 is better for blurry backgrounds and my head is spinning...

I'm finally making the full jump to the Z6 for my wedding season this year after using DSLRs forever and I am so pumped to ditch the weight but I'm hitting a wall with glass choices. I've been a Nikon shooter since the D700 days so I know my way around a camera but the Z mount native stuff is just so expensive and I've heard the new Tamron glass is basically magic on these mirrorless bodies. I have a huge gig coming up in Savannah this October and the venue is this old dimly lit mansion so I need something fast and reliable because I cant be missing focus during the first dance. I was looking at the 28-75mm G2 because it seems like a solid workhorse but then I saw people raving about that 35-150mm f2-2.8 and now I'm torn.

My constraints:

Budget is strictly under $1900 for this one lens

Needs to be sharp enough for those big 24x36 prints

Weight matters but I'll sacrifice some for that f2.0 if its actually worth it

Autofocus has to keep up with erratic kids on the dance floor

Is the 35-150mm too heavy for an 8 hour day? I usually carry two bodies but if that lens can do it all maybe I can simplify. Or should I just stick to the classic 28-75 and save some cash for a prime?...

Is the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 actually the way to go for street photography on an X-T5 or is it just way too bulky for a long day of walking? Ive been a prime-only shooter for years—mostly sticking to the 23mm and 35mm f2 lenses—so I know my way around the Fuji system but Im hitting a wall planning for my trip to Tokyo next month. I really dont want to be swapping lenses in the middle of Shinjuku or getting dust on the sensor every five minutes so a zoom seems like the logical move for once. My main concern is the weight and the way it handles on the T5 body because that 17-70 looks massive compared to my primes even if the constant f2.8 is tempting. I looked at the 11-20mm too but I think I might miss the tighter framing for candid shots. Budget is about 800 bucks which makes Tamron way more attractive than the Fuji 16-55 brick but I dont want to regret the size if it ends up being a neck-killer after 20k steps. Does the vibration compensation on the Tamron actually play nice with the T5 ibis or is it kind of redundant for street shutter speeds? Just trying to figure out if the versatility is worth losing the discreetness of my usual setup...

So I finally bit the bullet and jumped from my trusty D850 to the Z8 last month and man the autofocus is insane but the lens prices are actually killing me. Ive been a Nikon purist for a decade but I just cant justify the S-line prices right now after dropping so much on the body and cards. I started looking at Tamron since I loved their G2 zooms on F-mount but its kinda confusing now with the Z mount lineup. Like is the 35-150mm f2-2.8 actually worth the massive weight?

Im doing a wedding in Colorado in about three weeks and I really need a one-lens solution if possible because hiking up to the ceremony spot with a huge bag is just not happening. I saw the 28-75mm too but people keep saying its just the old Nikon design rebranded or something? Or is it the actual G2 optics? Im getting really anxious about the shipping times and making the wrong choice before the trip starts. My requirements are pretty strict:

Must be under $1500

Fast enough for a dim reception (f2.8 minimum)

Fast AF tracking for the walk down the aisle

I really dont want to deal with an FTZ adapter anymore if I can help it. Does the 70-180mm make more sense or should I just stick to the 35-150 range and suck up the weight...

So I finally pulled the trigger on the X-T5 and im so hyped to start using it but im struggling with picking a single lens for my trip to Japan in three weeks. I really want a Tamron zoom so I dont have to swap lenses constantly while walking around Tokyo.

I did some digging and everyone points to the Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 as the ultimate do-it-all lens but then I saw some forum posts saying it might not be sharp enough for that 40 megapixel sensor the X-T5 has and that kinda makes me nervous because whats the point of a high res body if the glass cant keep up? I also looked at the 17-70mm f/2.8 which seems way better for low light and sharper but then I lose all that reach for far away architecture or street details.

Here is what I am looking for:

Budget is around $700-$800 max

Mostly travel photography and some street stuff at night

Needs to be light enough for 10 mile walking days

Ideally no lens swapping because I hate getting dust on the sensor

Is the 18-300mm actually good enough for the X-T5 or will it look all mushy when I zoom in? I keep seeing conflicting stuff online about whether it can handle the resolution. Or maybe the 17-70 is the smarter play even if I lose the zoom range...

I finally saved up and got a Nikon Z6 because everyone said it was a great camera but now I realize the lens it came with isnt really doing much for what I need. Im supposed to be the photographer for my cousins big anniversary party next month in Chicago and honestly Im kinda panicking because the room is going to be pretty dark and I have no idea how to pick a lens that works. I heard that Tamron makes lenses that fit Nikon cameras but when I look them up there are so many numbers and letters like f/2.8 and G2 and VC and Di III and I just get so confused. I definitely need a zoom lens because I dont want to be running around and getting in peoples faces while they are eating or dancing but I also dont want it to be so heavy that my neck hurts by the end of the night.

My budget is probably around 800 or maybe 900 dollars if I can find a good deal on a used one because I already spent so much on the camera body itself. I was looking at some of their lenses online and I keep seeing people talk about the 28-75mm or the 70-180mm but I dont know if those even fit on my Z6 without some kind of adapter thingy. Do I need that FTZ adapter everyone talks about or does Tamron make stuff that just clicks right on to the Z mount? I keep hearing that the Z mount is different so I dont want to buy the wrong thing and have it arrive two days before the party and not work.

I really want the photos to look sharp and not all blurry because of the low light in the reception hall. I think the ceiling is pretty high too so I cant just use a flash and bounce it off anything. Is there one specific Tamron zoom that is like the gold standard for this kind of thing for someone who is just starting out and doesnt want to mess up their first big gig? Like is there one that covers enough ground so I dont have to keep switching back and forth? I really want to do a good job for my cousin but the more I read the more I feel like I know nothing at all...

My budget is capped at around 850 bucks so the high end Z primes are out for now.

I started looking at Tamron since they finally have native Z mounts but im torn between the 70-180mm f2.8 or maybe the 35-150 if I can find a deal. Is the 70-180mm actually good for that creamy bokeh falloff on the Z6 or am I better off looking at something else?
