So I just got this Sony camera for my trip to Iceland next month and honestly I am so stressed out about picking a tripod. I keep seeing people talk about E-mount lenses and stuff so I guess I need a tripod that fits that specifically?? Sorry if thats a dumb question I just dont want to buy something and have my camera fall off a cliff because it didnt click in right. My logic was that if the camera is a Sony E-mount then the stand should be too but then I saw some on Amazon that just say universal and now I'm completely lost.

I have about $150 to spend maybe a little more if it means the camera is super secure but I also need it to be light because we are doing a lot of hiking. I keep looking at the Peak Design one but its so expensive and then there are these ones like Manfrotto or Benro and I dont know the difference at all. Is there like a specific plate thingy I need for Sony?? I'm worried about the wind in Iceland knocking the whole thing over too. If anyone has a Sony and can tell me what they use for traveling that isnt too heavy and actually fits please help... I'm so confused by all the different legs and twisty things. Do I need a specific brand to make sure it doesnt wobble...

So I finally pulled the trigger on an A7S III because I have a huge wedding shoot this Saturday in Chicago and my old setup just wasnt cutting it anymore. But now Im staring at my screen at 2am losing my mind over SD cards because Sony is so picky about what it actually lets you record. My logic was just to grab whatever had a high number on it but then I started reading about these V60 versus V90 ratings and now Im just paralyzed.

I read online that the Sony Tough G cards are basically the only thing that works 100% of the time for the high bitrate stuff like 4K 120fps but they are like $200 for a single 128GB card which feels like a total scam honestly. I also saw some people recommending the ProGrade Digital V90s as a cheaper alternative but then I saw a couple of reddit threads saying they overheat or get stuck in the slot and now I dont know who to trust. I really need to be able to shoot 10-bit 4:2:2 without the camera just stopping every five minutes because the card cant keep up.

If I go with a V60 card like the SanDisk Extreme Pro is it gonna block me from certain modes? I keep seeing conflicting stuff about XAVC S-I vs XAVC HS. Like if I want to shoot the highest quality slow motion for the ceremony highlights am I forced into buying those expensive Tough cards or even the CFexpress Type A ones? My budget is capped at about $300 for storage right now since I just spent a fortune on the body and a 24-70mm lens and I need at least two cards for redundancy because I cant risk losing someones wedding footage. Is there a specific brand that you guys actually trust for Sony bodies that wont break the bank but also wont fail on me mid-aisle? I literally have three days to get these delivered so I need to make a decision like tonight...

Honestly I am so beyond over these generic cards that everyone swears by because they keep failing on me at the worst possible times!! I was out doing a shoot last weekend for a client near Pike Place in Seattle and my A7IV just completely locked up with a database error and I had to reboot the whole thing while the client just stood there waiting... it was so embarrassing and I am just DONE. Im seriously ready to just throw these things in the trash and start over because I cant risk losing files again. It keeps happening when I switch to 4K 60fps or try to do any high speed bursts and it just sits there with the little red light blinking for like thirty seconds while I miss everything.

But okay, the good news is Im finally biting the bullet and spending the real money to get something that actually works!! I am actually kind of pumped to finally have a setup that doesnt make me sweat every time I press the shutter. I have about 300 bucks set aside for this which I know isnt a ton for high end storage but I need at least two solid cards that wont give me that card error screen of death before my next big gig in two weeks.

I've heard Sony Tough cards are the way to go but then I read some stuff online about them falling apart or the little plastic ribs breaking off? Then there's ProGrade and Lexar but honestly there are so many versions like V60 and V90 and gold vs silver and its just a total headache trying to figure out what actually plays nice with the Sony firmware. I just want something that can handle the high bitrate video without choking every five minutes.

What are you guys actually using in your Sony bodies that has never let you down? Are the Sony brand ones really worth the extra premium or is there a better alternative that is actually reliable for professional work? I need to order these like today so they get here in time...

Okay so I finally did it! I saved up for months and just bought my first real camera which is the Sony a7 IV and omg the pictures look so good but I have a major problem that I didnt even think about before I bought it. The strap that comes in the box is like super scratchy and stiff? I tried wearing it around my house for like an hour just to practice and my neck was already starting to hurt which is kinda pathetic lol but I'm just not used to having that much weight hanging off me I guess. I mean the camera isnt even that big but with the lens on there it feels way heavier than I expected.

So I was thinking maybe I need something with more padding but then I saw some people online talking about these sling things where it goes across your chest instead of just around your neck? My logic was that it might distribute the weight better but I'm honestly so confused by all the different clips and systems and I dont want the camera to fall off if I dont click it in right. I saw this brand called Peak Design and everyone seems to love them but they're kinda pricey and I dont even know if the anchors will work on my Sony or if I'm gonna break something by accident. I'm going to Yellowstone in about three weeks so I really need to find something soon because I'm gonna be hiking a lot and I dont want to be miserable the whole time.

I have about $60 or maybe $75 left in my budget after blowing the rest on the lens so I cant go too crazy with professional gear. I saw a few things while I was browsing:

the ones with the little red loops

thick neoprene ones that look like a gym bag strap

some leather ones that look cool but maybe they're uncomfortable?

Is there a specific one that is like super soft on the skin? Or should I be looking for something wider? I saw one that looked like it was made of seatbelt material which sounds weird but maybe it slides better? I just want to be able to walk around all day without feeling like my neck is being sliced in half. Does anyone have a favorite that works specifically well with the Sony bodies? Sorry if this is a really basic question I just have no idea where to start and everything on Amazon looks the same...

So i finally pulled the trigger on a Sony ZV-E10 for my trip to Kyoto and Osaka next month but the onboard mic is honestly driving me a bit crazy even with that little deadcat thing on top. It catches way too much background noise when im walking through busy streets and i really need something that focuses on my voice more. I've been doing a ton of research and i'm stuck between a few choices because i want to keep the setup as light as possible since i'll be walking miles every day and dont want a huge rig.

My budget is pretty firm at around $200 because i already spent way too much on lenses and plane tickets. I need something that can handle wind but also doesnt make me look like a professional news crew while im just trying to eat street food and talk to the camera. I'm mostly doing walk-and-talk style stuff so rejection of side noise is a big deal for me.

Im currently torn between these three options:

Sony ECM-B10: This is my top pick right now mostly because it uses the multi-interface shoe. No cables sounds like a dream for packing and unpacking quickly. Its right at the limit of my budget though and i've heard some people say the digital processing can sound a bit artificial.

Rode VideoMic GO II: Its half the price of the Sony and everyone says the audio quality is stellar but im worried about the cable getting in the way of the flip out screen or just being a nuisance in my bag. Plus i'd have to remember to check if its plugged in right every single time.

Sony ECM-G1: Its super tiny which i love but i wonder if the quality is actually that much better than the built-in one to justify buying it? It seems almost too small to have good wind protection.

The B10 seems the smartest for a Sony body but is the extra $100 worth it just to lose the wire? I leave in three weeks so i need to make a move soon so i can test it out before the flight. Which one would you guys pick for a solo traveler who hates carrying extra gear?

Which gimbals actually provide decent stability for a Sony setup because I am beyond frustrated with my current gear? Right now I am using an older Zhiyun and it is literally the bane of my existence. Every time I think I have it balanced perfectly the motors start micro-vibrating or it just goes limp in the middle of a shot which is just great when you have a client watching you.

I am shooting a wedding in Chicago in three weeks and I cannot go in with this setup. I am using an A7IV with the 24-70mm GM II and maybe that is too heavy but it is supposed to be within the payload limit?? I just want something that works the first time. Im looking to spend maybe $700 or $800 tops but I could stretch it if it means I wont have a mental breakdown on set.

Is the RS3 Pro the only real option for Sony shooters or is there something else that wont give me these weird jitters? Honestly just ready to chuck this thing out a window and start over. I need something reliable that actually talks to the Sony software properly without constantly disconnecting. Any specific models you guys use for the heavier GM glass that dont require constant recalibration...
