I spent way too much on the body itself and now im realizing the battery life is just... not great? Like i went out to Discovery Park here in Seattle to try some bird shots and the battery was already halfway dead before I even saw a hawk. Plus the overheating thing everyone talks about for video is already stressing me out and I havent even shot a full wedding yet. I feel like i bought a Ferrari but it didnt come with tires or something lol. Im trying to figure out what is actually essential versus just marketing fluff because my bank account is screaming at me right now. I have maybe $500-600 left for the next month to get this kitted out. Do I really need those crazy expensive CFexpress cards or can I get away with SD for now? What about cages or external power? Looking for the absolute must-have accessories for the R5 that actually make a difference and wont break the bank even more...

So I finally bit the bullet and grabbed a Canon 90D after shooting on my old Powershot and an AE-1 for literally like fifteen years but man things have changed way more than I thought they would. I thought I knew what I was doing but I opened the box and realized I have basically nothing to actually make this thing work for a real shoot and I'm lowkey panicking because my cousin asked me to do her outdoor wedding photos in Seattle in late October and we all know what that weather is like. I have the kit lens and one battery but that is it. I went on Amazon and got totally overwhelmed by all the different SD card speeds and V-ratings and like... do I actually need a UHS-II card or is that just marketing hype? I dont want the buffer to hang while they're doing the first kiss or whatever because that would be a total nightmare.

Also I'm terrified of getting dust on the sensor so I probably need a cleaning kit but there are so many brands and I don't want to scratch the sensor or the mirror on my first day. I have about 400 bucks left in my budget for everything else and I need to make sure I'm not missing something stupid like a specific filter for the rain or a better strap because the one in the box is already digging into my neck after five minutes of testing it in the backyard. I'm also looking at tripods but they all seem so flimsy or way too expensive and I'm worried about the wind knocking it over if we're near the water. Is a battery grip actually essential for a full day of shooting or can I just carry spares? I just feel like I'm forgetting something crucial that's gonna ruin the whole day because I'm used to just popping in a roll of film or using a point and shoot where everything is built in. I saw some stuff about lens hoods too and I'm wondering if I really need one for the kit lens or if it's just for looks. What are the absolute must-have accessories I need to get before the big day so I dont mess this up?

Been looking at cards and I'm kinda overwhelmed. I saw the SanDisk Extreme Pro is the go-to but then I read some threads saying the ProGrade Cobalt V90 is way faster for clearing the buffer when you're hitting that 40fps electronic shutter.

My budget is around $200 for cards right now. Is it actually worth the massive price jump for V90 cards for wildlife or can I get away with V60? I dont want to miss a shot because my camera is still writing to the card... what are you guys actually using?

I leave in four days so I need to find something fast and my budget is strictly under $50 since I spent all my cash on the camera body.

I spent all morning looking at the Rode VideoMicro but then I read some stuff about the audio levels being way too low on Canon cameras specifically. Then people suggest the Boya MM1 as a cheap fix but I keep seeing reviews saying it feels like a toy that snaps easily. I dont want to waste money on something that wont work for street vlogging, does anyone have a better rec or know if the Rode issue is actually that bad?

What are the absolute must-have things I need to buy for my new Canon mirrorless camera before I go to my sisters wedding in San Diego in two weeks? Sorry if this is a really stupid question but I literally just opened the box for my Canon R50 and I feel like a total idiot because I didnt realize it doesnt even come with a memory card so I cant even take a single picture yet. I have like $300 left in my budget for everything else and I am super stressed that I'm gonna run out of battery or space or something right when shes walking down the aisle and I have no idea where to even start looking.

I see all these kits online with tripods and cleaning stuff and extra lenses but I dont know what's actually important and what's just junk. Like do I need a screen protector? Is that a thing for cameras? I am also worried about carrying it around all day because the strap that came in the box feels kinda cheap and itchy on my neck. I really want to get some good shots of the ceremony on the beach but I'm scared the sand or the sun might mess things up if I dont have the right gear.

Here is what I think I might need but please tell me if I'm wrong:

A memory card (but which one?? there are so many speeds and numbers on them)

A better bag that isnt huge but protects it

Maybe an extra battery because people say mirrorless ones die fast?

Something to clean the glass part if it gets smudged

If there is anything else that is like a life saver for a beginner please let me know. I'm literally staring at the camera right now feeling so overwhelmed because I want these photos to look professional but I dont even know how to turn the flash on yet. Is there a specific brand of cards that works best with Canon or does it not matter? I really dont want to waste my last $300 on stuff I wont use but I also dont want to be unprepared for the big day...

What tripod is actually strong enough to hold a big heavy Canon DSLR without it tipping over? I am totally freaking out because I just bought a Canon 5D and this massive 70-200mm lens for my sisters wedding this Saturday and the cheap plastic tripod I had from my old point and shoot just basically snapped and almost broke everything. I have no idea what I am doing and I am such a newbie at this stuff so sorry if this is a stupid question but I really dont want to break two thousand dollars worth of gear.

I went to look online and there are like a million choices and I dont even know what a ball head is or why some cost fifty dollars and others cost five hundred. I live in a small town so I have to order something on amazon prime like today to get it here in time. My budget is maybe like 200 or 300 dollars if that is even enough to get something that wont fall over when I tilt the camera? I keep seeing stuff about carbon fiber and aluminum but is one better for heavy stuff? I just need it to be sturdy and not move at all while I am taking photos of the ceremony from the back of the church... help.

My logic was to just buy a pair of Canon 600EX II-RTs because they're 'official' but the price tag is kinda killing me. I read a bunch of threads saying the Godox V1 is the way to go because of the round head and light falloff, but then other people say the radio connection on the Canon stuff is way more stable in crowded rooms. So I'm just stuck between the reliable expensive option and the feature-rich cheaper one... is the Canon really that much better for actual pro reliability or am I just paying for the brand name?

Sorry if this is a really dumb question I literally just started getting into photography like a month ago and I dont really know what I'm doing yet. I have a Canon 90D that I got used and I was trying to take pictures at my cousins graduation last weekend but the battery just quit on me right when they were walking across the stage which was super embarrassing. I saw some people have these big attachments on the bottom of their cameras and someone told me they hold extra batteries?? I looked online and the official Canon brand ones are like 200 dollars which is crazy because my budget is closer to maybe 80 or 100 max since I already spent so much on the lens. Are the cheaper ones on Amazon like Neewer or Vivitar actually safe to use or will they like fry my camera? I have a big local street festival coming up in Chicago in two weeks and I really want to be able to shoot all day without carrying a pocket full of loose batteries. Is there a specific one that everyone likes that wont break the bank? I just want something reliable so I dont miss the shots again...

i am seriously at my wits end with this godox v860iii i bought last year because it just decided to stop firing half the time right when i need it most. i was out doing some test shots for my sisters wedding which is literally next saturday in chicago and the thing just keeps giving me these weird exposure errors or just wont recycle fast enough even with a full battery. i cant deal with this kind of unreliability when im supposed to be the main photographer for her big day and now im panicking because i dont have a backup that actually works.

honestly i should have known better than to cheap out but i thought the reviews were solid. now im looking at my canon r6 and realizing i need something that actually communicates with the camera properly without me having to pray every time i press the shutter button. i have about 500 bucks left in my budget for this but i could maybe stretch it if it means i dont ruin her wedding photos. i need something that can handle a lot of bounce flash in a pretty dark reception hall without overheating after twenty minutes because that happened to me last month at a birthday party and it was embarrassing as hell.

ive been looking at the canon speedlites but the naming conventions are so confusing like whats the real difference between the 430ex and the 600ex-rt besides the price jump? or should i just bite the bullet and look at the el-5 even though people say the battery system is annoying? i need something that is absolutely bulletproof and wont let me down in a week. i dont have time to fiddle with menus or hope a firmware update fixes a connection issue while the bride is walking down the aisle.
