Im so hyped for my Yosemite trip next month but Im realizing my current setup is way too cramped for a long hike.

I need something that can handle:

the 70-200 mounted

a 24-70mm

my 50mm prime

a tripod on the side

Ive got about $300 to drop so I want something that wont kill my back. What are you guys using for your heavy Canon glass lately? Is the Peak Design stuff actually worth the hype or should I stick to something more traditional like Think Tank...

Or maybe something else but it weighs a ton and feels like a brick. I tried using this old plastic tripod I found in my garage from years ago but the whole thing kept tilting forward and I was so scared it was gonna fall and break everything. My husband said I need a real one but I have no idea what that means or what to look for.

I looked online and there are so many options like carbon fiber or aluminum and some have these weird balls on top and others have handles. Im so confused by all the numbers and payload specs. I live in Seattle so it gets windy and rainy here and I really want to take some clear photos of the mountains when we go camping next month. I have maybe 300 or 400 bucks left after buying the camera but I dont want to buy something cheap that will just wobble and break. Is there a specific brand or model that is actually sturdy enough so the heavy lens doesnt just droop down? Sorry if this is a really basic thing to ask but I dont even know where to start looking...

so ive been shooting on canon gear for like a decade now and i finally made the jump to the r6 a few months back for the autofocus alone but man the audio setup is driving me nuts. ive been using my old rode videomic pro that worked fine on my 5d mark iv but for some reason on the r6 im getting this super annoying low level hiss even when i turn the gain way down in the camera settings and try to boost it on the mic itself. i thought maybe it was a bad cable so i swapped that out but nope still there and its making my post-production workflow a total nightmare especially when im doing these quiet indoor interviews where theres no background noise to hide it.

im looking to just upgrade the whole mic setup because i have a big wedding shoot coming up in san diego next month and i cant afford to have the vows sounding like they were recorded in a wind tunnel or with a swarm of bees in the background. i need something that plays nice with the r6 preamps because apparently they are finicky as hell or maybe im just doing something wrong but anyway here is what im looking for:

budget is max 450 dollars but id prefer to stay around 300 if possible

needs to be a shotgun style mic that sits on the hot shoe

must have some kind of decent shock mount because the r6 ibis is great but i still move around a lot

auto power on/off would be a lifesaver because i always forget to turn the damn thing off and kill the battery

clean signal is the priority obviously

i looked at the sennheiser mke 600 but i dont know if thats overkill or if i need an xlr adapter for it to actually sound good on this body. has anyone tried the deity v-mic d3 pro or maybe the newer rode stuff? i just want something that lets me set and forget without worrying about that digital noise floor creeping in all the time...

What are the top five essential accessories I actually need for a new Canon DSLR because I am honestly so overwhelmed and frustrated right now? I just got an EOS Rebel T7 for a trip to Olympic National Park this coming Thursday and I took it out for a test run at my sisters wedding rehearsal in Seattle yesterday and it was a total disaster. I feel like a complete idiot because I spent my hard earned $500 thinking I was ready to go but the photos are all blurry and the battery literally died before we even got to dinner. I am so fed up with the kit setup already and I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing.

I have about $250 left in my budget and I need to know exactly what to buy in the next 48 hours so I dont ruin my vacation photos too. I'm looking for the absolute essentials that every beginner needs to actually make the camera functional because right now it feels like a very expensive paperweight. I was looking at things online but there are a million options and everyone is trying to sell me $200 filters and massive tripods that I dont think I even need yet.

Here is what I am struggling with the most:

The battery life is a joke and I only have the one it came with

My hands are apparently shaky because every woods shot is a smeary mess

I cant get the files onto my laptop easily because the cord is tiny

The neck strap that came with it is digging into my skin and its so itchy

I dont have a way to keep the lens clean from all the mist and rain I know I am gonna hit in the park

Is there a specific brand of battery that wont explode my camera or should I stick to the expensive Canon ones? And do I really need a tripod or is there something smaller I can use? I am seriously panicking because the clock is ticking and I feel like I made a huge mistake buying into this hobby if its gonna be this much of a headache just to get a clear picture of a tree. What are the five things you would buy if you were me and had two days to get it right?

Does anyone know what the absolute cheapest SD cards are that actually work reliably in the Canon R6 without making the buffer hang for like ten minutes? I just spent way too much on the body itself and now Im staring at these card prices and crying a little bit lol. I really need to figure this out by next weekend because I have an engagement shoot booked here in Chicago and I realized I only have one old 32GB card from my T6i which obviously isnt gonna cut it.

Ive been doing some digging and I saw a lot of people recommending the SanDisk Extreme Pro cards because they are basically the industry standard but then I saw some threads saying you HAVE to use UHS-II cards if you want to do any kind of burst shooting or 4K video. But man those V60 and V90 cards are so expensive it is actually insane. I saw the Lexar Professional 1667x which is way cheaper for a UHS-II card but then I saw a bunch of reviews saying the casing is cheap and they fall apart in the camera which sounds like a total disaster.

I also read that the R6 has two slots so maybe I can get away with one fast card and one slow one? I read that some cameras will slow down to the speed of the slowest card if you are recording to both at the same time for backup which is what I want to do. If I buy a Kingston Canvas React Plus because people say its the best value V90 card will it even matter if my second card is just a cheap V30?

My budget is really tight right now like maybe $100 total for two 128GB cards if thats even realistic. I mostly do stills but I use the electronic shutter for high speed stuff sometimes. Does the buffer fill up instantly if I use a regular UHS-I card or is that just for people shooting 4K 60fps video all day? Just trying to find that sweet spot where I dont lose shots but also dont have to sell a kidney just for storage...

Which external flash is actually going to work best with the Canon 90D without making me want to pull my hair out? I am so frustrated right now because I spent all this money on a nice camera but every photo I take inside looks like it was taken with a potato from 2005. I've got my sisters wedding coming up in two weeks here in Chicago and I am supposed to be the one taking the nice candid photos during the reception but everything is just dark and blurry and gross. I tried using that little flash that pops out of the top of the camera but it just makes everyone look like a deer in headlights and the background is still pitch black. I'm a complete newbie at this and I honestly have no idea what I am doing so sorry if this is a really stupid question but I'm totally lost.

I went on Amazon and searched for flashes and there are so many brands like Godox and Neewer and then the Canon ones that cost like five hundred dollars which I definitely cannot afford right now. My budget is like $150 tops because the 90D already totally broke the bank. People keep talking about things like TTL and high speed sync and manual zoom and honestly it sounds like a different language to me. Do I need a specific brand to talk to the Canon system or can I just buy any random one? Are the cheap ones gonna break my camera or just not work right? I just want something that I can slide onto the top and it just works. Like it knows how much light to give without me having to do math in my head while people are dancing and moving around. Is that even a thing? Please tell me there is something simple out there because I'm about to just give up and use my iPhone for the whole wedding...

I keep looking at them online and there are like a million different brands and materials and I dont even know what a ball head is or if I need one?? Like do they all fit every camera or do I need a specific one for Canon?

Sorry if these are really dumb questions I just really dont want to buy something that breaks or falls over the first time I use it. I basically need something that isnt gonna weigh 50 pounds because I have to carry it in my carry-on and then on some long hikes. My budget is probably around $150 or maybe $200 if it is actually worth it but cheaper is better since I already spent a lot on the camera.

has to be light

easy to set up because I am not tech savvy at all

fits in a regular backpack

wont fall over if there is a little bit of wind

Is there like a go-to one everyone uses? I saw some stuff about carbon fiber being better but its so expensive and then there are the aluminum ones. I just want something that works for a beginner. Help...
